Sometimes, even Nerf can come up with a new type of blaster within a line that surprises us. One such excellent example of this is the Nerf N-Strike Elite Spectre Rev-5 blaster.
Incorporating some of the popular elements of previous products in this line with some new, unique features, the Nerf N-Strike Elite Spectre Rev-5 may be an excellent choice for those looking to purchase an exciting outlier in this lineup.
If the Rev-5 has happened to find you, here’s what you need to know about this blaster before you finalize your purchase.
Nerf N-Strike Elite Spectre Rev-5 Stealth Blaster Review

Style and Design
The Nerf N-Strike Elite Spectre Rev-5 offers a traditional Nerf design, with a blaster that features a deep blue on its body and pure white and charcoal gray elements throughout (all with splashes of orange for a finishing touch).
Speaking to the blaster itself, its design is akin to the StrongArm. However, it does become another blaster entirely when the additional features are used, which we will get into in the appropriate section below.
Ammo Capacity
Aptly named, the Nerf N-Strike Elite Spectre Rev-5 is capable of holding up to five darts in its rotating drum. As we’ve stated in the past, five darts often leave a lot to be desired.
However, because this blaster is, in essence, more of a handgun than any other type of blaster, a five dart capacity is appropriate and you will find that you can easily reload it as well (this blaster does come with the side button that will release the rotating drum so that it is more accessible).
Firing Style and Range
This blaster uses the same type of priming mechanism as most handguns in the Nerf N-Strike Elite line. To use the Nerf N-Strike Elite Spectre Rev-5, simply pull back on the priming mechanism at the top of the blaster and fire when you’re ready.
Although this does belong to the N-Strike Elite series, the range is reduced to 75 feet rather than 90 feet, which is still a relatively good distance for such a small blaster.
Additional Features
As you may have already guessed, what makes this blaster unique are the special features that accompany the weapon.
These include a collapsible stock that can help you improve the accuracy of your shots and a barrel extension (or “silencer) that add to the look of your blaster. Along with these add-ons, it also has tactical rail space where you can place extra scopes and other accessories.
What We Like
- Great Blaster Overall: Sometimes, simple designs offer the best functionality. Because the Nerf N-Strike Elite Spectre Rev-5 has a similar design to other products like the Strongarm, you know that you’re going to be able to enjoy the same type of performance without any of the hassle that more complex blasters would give you.
- Easy to Reload: When it comes to blasters like the Rev-5, having only five darts in your rotating drum can be a major advantage. This is due to the fact that only having to reload five darts is a quick process. Additionally, the Rev-5 includes the coveted button on the side of the weapon that allows your rotating drum to slide out for easy access.
What We Don’t Like
- Additional Features Do Little for the Gun Itself: People are naturally going to choose the Nerf N-Strike Elite Spectre Rev-5 because it looks cool. However, it’s important to remember that the blaster itself is much like other handguns. The additional features may provide it with a more impressive looking body but do little for the blaster itself. The barrel extension, for example, has no true impact on performance.
The collapsible shoulder stock is also a bit flimsier than most stocks, which means that it may not provide you with the most support. If you’re buying this blaster simply for its design, keep these things in mind when you are making the final decision.
Nerf N-Strike Elite Spectre Rev-5 Stealth Blaster Review: My Verdict
The Nerf N-Strike Elite Spectre Rev-5 offers all of the desirable aspects you want in the smaller gun with add-ons that serve to transform it into a different weapon entirely.
If you’re a fan of other products like the Nerf N-Strike Elite Strongarm or the Nerf N-Strike Elite Disruptor, you are most likely going to enjoy the Rev-5.
However, unlike these two products, this blaster also comes with a barrel extension and collapsible shoulder stock, making it so that you can improve upon the build of your existing handgun.
If this is something that appeals to you, the Rev-5 will be a perfect addition to your Nerf collection!
