As we’ve recently discussed, the Nerf Rival series provides more serious users with the weaponry they need to upgrade their blasting experience

That said, the type of blaster that you choose does make a difference in your experience when going up against other teammates and fans of the series.
One great weapon to start out with if you are just dipping your toes into the Rival series is the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200.
For those who are considering adopting it as their first blaster, let’s take a closer look at the blaster, its features, and its functionality.

- Features a folding stock to create a compact configuration for close spaces, portability, and storage

Style and Design
What we like about the Nerf Rival series is that you don’t really have to worry about choosing a certain type of style or design as Nerf already separates blasters based on teams. As such, you can expect that the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 comes in two blaster colors: blue and red.
Compared to some of the other blasters, the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 comes with a gritty, paintball-style feel, with a slender design and a striped paint design running down the middle of the blaster.
Although it is still bigger than most Nerf blasters, this is arguably one of the smaller and more easily manageable bodies in the lineup.
If you want something simple for your first Nerf Rival series experience, you should definitely consider the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 as your first Nerf Rival blaster.
Darts Capacity
Featuring a relatively tame ammo capacity, the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 offers 12 high-impact rounds in its transparent magazine.
Considering this is a manual weapon, this is plenty of ammo to go up against your enemies, especially because of the fact that you have far more control over this than semi-automatic weapons or fully-automatic options.

Firing Style and Range
As we stated above, the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 is a manual weapon, which features a pump-action firing style that makes the weapon easy to handle and use. The good news is that its functionality does not impact the actual range of the blaster itself.
As it is with all Nerf Rival series blasters, the high-impact foam rounds contained within the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 are still fired at a speed of a 100 feet-per-second. This will keep you in competition with other blasters and opponents on the battlefield.
Additional Features
You can tell that Nerf put a lot of effort into this series not only by the improved made in the weapons themselves but also in all of the additional features that they manage to pack into each weapon.

Arguably the most exciting thing about the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 is that it comes with a folding shoulder stock that is designed to improve accuracy when you find yourself in a situation where you need the support.
If you find that you don’t need or it is getting in the way, you can simply press the button, fold it into the body, and let it lie there until it comes in handy again. If you want to attach a shoulder stock that is capable of storing more ammo, this is possible as well.
Worried about accidentally firing foam rounds when you don’t want to? Like with other Nerf Rival series blasters, the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 has a trigger lock to prevent you from shooting when you don’t mean to.
Although this risk is mitigated by the fact that you are using a manual weapon, it is still a consideration they have made to prevent you from losing precious ammo while shooting
Most weapons come with tactical rails, but the ones on this blaster serve a special purpose. The Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 comes with 24 foam rounds and two magazines.
To make things easier on you, one of these magazines can be attached to the tactical rail on the side of the weapon, allowing you to easily pop it into your blaster when you run out of ammo in your first magazine. There is also a tactical rail for additional attachments.
What We Like
- Simple Design: Sometimes, simplicity offers a better blasting experience than more complicated designs do. Offering a sleek body, pump-action firing, and simple reloading, you are guaranteed to like what the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 has to offer if you are a fan of more basic blasters.
- Folding Shoulder Stock: Shoulder stocks are always helpful, especially if you are just getting used to a blaster and how it fires. With the foldable shoulder stock on this blaster, you get the convenience of being able to put your shoulder stock when you don’t need it while being able to pull it out when it matters most.
- Additional Tactical Rail for Storage: Despite the convenience that comes with magazines, 12 foam rounds can quickly run out and if you are going up against a serious enemy, you need to be able to reload fast. The additional magazine and strategically placed tactical rail on the side of this blaster makes it so that you can access additional ammo when it matters most.
What We Don’t Like
- Seems to Suffer From Common Manual Weapon Problems: One big problem with this blaster is that it does appear to have many problems that you expect from manual weapons. For example, some of the problems that users of the Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 seem to report is a lack of accuracy, inconsistent range and firing speed, jammed foam rounds, and a lack of power over time. Again, this is one of those things where some users have problems and some users don’t, so it is important that you carefully load and fire your blaster during each use.

Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 Review: Our Verdict
The Nerf Rival Hypnos XIX-1200 does appear to have its problems, so it is a blaster that you will want to approach carefully.
However, given its simple design and use, the additional features that you won’t necessarily get from other blasters, and its lightweight build, it may just be the product that you need to usher you into the world of Nerf Rival blasting.
